New Gucci Sunglasses 2009 (2985, 2807, 2969, 2935)
Gucci sunglasses, ah, how sweet. Let’s take a look at four models from the Spring Summer line from Gucci. Sunglasses are a big part of Gucci and sometimes their design is very strong. They quality is not as high as many of brands that are made in Japan, but is reasonable.
Gucci Sunglasses 2985 Shiny Black
I really like this style just for the ring on the hinge. The interlocking Gucci logo is very classy. It’s a simple style but this little detail really makes it stand out. The price is $300.
Gucci Sunglasses 2807 Shiny Brown
I’m not a big fan of this style, however, it might look good when wearing it. It’s always something to keep in mind when looking at sunglasses. The way the temples are attached to the frames is not smooth and gives it a very technical look, which is usually not what you want from a pair of Gucci sunglasses. You want class and style. The price is $375.
Gucci Sunglasses 2969 Dark Purple
This style is loud and bold and I love it. The tortoise color detailing in the hinge on the temples is excellent and the oversize gives it a powerful look. I expect it to be popular this year. The price is about $345.
Gucci Sunglasses 2935 Black
This style is clearly a very simple model and is for those looking to show off that they can afford Gucci sunglasses. I’m not particularly fond it of, but it’s also inoffensive. It’s a safe bet for someone looking for a plastic wrap. The price is about $160.
This really is the first time we’ve presented Gucci sunglasses here and it is nice to see the 2009 line finally. Look for more about Gucci from us in the future.

Celebrity Sighting: Jennifer Love Hewitt Sunglasses – Chanel 5138
With all of the Oscar buzz going around, we’ve found a picture of a modern celebrity imitating former Oscar glory in Audrey Hepburn.
Close, but not quite
Perhaps there will never be an Oscar found Jennifer Love Hewitt, but she has the look down. The sunglasses don’t match exactly. Looking very much like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Jennifer needs the Ray-Ban Wayfarers to complete the look. Instead, she is wearing Chanel 5138 sunglasses, a basic style.

Vintage Eyewear’s Tri Block Sunglasses
Looking like what designers in the 80’s thought that future fashion would be like, Vintage Eyewear have released new colors for their Tri Block model and here they are.
These a freakin amazing
If you have a pair of these, please send them to me.
The boxy feel on them is reminiscent of 80’s action movies starring actors with a taste for robot blood. Regardless, I’d love to throw on some vintage Nike shirt and sport these. Vintage Eyewear can be found at Nubian right now.

Barneys New York and Super Sunglasses Collaboration
Barneys New York and Super Sunglasses have got together to make an exclusive model for the already exclusive shop and it of course runs in the tradition of many Super Sunglasses models, being based on the Wayfarer.

The accents on the insides of the ends of the temples match the color of the Carl Zeiss lenses (all Super Sunglasses have Carl Zeiss lenses) and the pattern on the frame is very cool. Only 50 pairs of these will be made so you had better get there soon if you want a pair. If you don’t want anyone on the street having the same pair as you, this is a pair to get.
Super Sunglasses will be around for a long time if the Wayfarer popularity holds out and it is what they stick with. Look for more styles by them through the search feature on the blog.

Roberto Cavalli Sunglasses 2009 (504, 441, 448)
It is our first time looking at Roberto Cavalli here on the blog and we are excited to look at some of what’s available for 2009. We present three models here below.
Roberto Cavalli 504 Sunglasses
This is a standard aviator with minor detail on the temples. It is definitely more subtle for Roberto Cavalli sunglasses, but that’s not necessarily a good thing as they can be way over the top. This style will look good on many girls because of its simplicity, but would also go well with formal wear. The price is about €190.
Roberto Cavalli 441 Sunglasses
This pair is certainly worth note. The detail in it is over the top, but beautiful. The temples are exquisite. There are crystals running from the front to the back of them, and the circles are in fact in the shape of snakes. Within each snake is the Roberto Cavalli logo. These have got to be worn with something nice. Do not bring them to the beach. The price is about €275.
Roberto Cavalli 448 Sunglasses
Roberto Cavalli sunglasses’ style is not subtle. There are always intricate lines, big circles and all kinds of bling. This year is no exception. If I had to choose one of the above for a girl, it would be the 448S.

Celebrity Sighting: Victoria Beckham and DVB Sunglasses Style 2
Victoria Beckham is often found in head end fashion clothes and she always wears sunglasses to match. It's classic 50's fashion with a modern twist.
Of course, she has her own brand now (DVB) and in the last year Victoria Beckham’s sunglasses have been spotted on a few celebrities. When she is wearing sunglasses, they are almost always here own DVB Style 2 sunglasses. I guess it makes sense to wear your own brand.

Celebrity Sighting: Joaquin Phoenix and Tom Ford Jack Sunglasses on David Letterman
Last night I caught the interview with Joaquin Phoenix on the Late Show with David Letterman. I really hope that he is acting this entire charade out.
This interview was to talk about the last movie he will ever make. In case you didn’t know, he has left acting to take up a career in music, specifically hip-hop. It sounds like a joke, and the fact that Casey Affleck is filming the transition from actor to rapper and making a documentary about it doesn’t add strength to the story.

A nice simple style
I’ve heard he has been acting erratically lately and this interview is just the same. If you haven’t seen it, check it out on Youtube. Joaquin Phoenix’s sunglasses are of course Tom Ford, and they are the model Jack B5. You can see the sunglasses in the picture and on the show, and they do a reasonable job of covering up his eyes, which I think is what he is going for.
If he is serious about the rapping, then I wish him luck. The album is due for late 2009 and I can't wait for it.

Porsche Retro Styles
According the Moodie Report, Porsche sunglasses is reissuing two popular styles from the 70’s and 80’s and will fit them with modern technology.
The bridge on these is so cool
The P8478 is a very retro-looking aviator style that was originally released in 1978. I love the rounded silver metal curve at the bridge. Also, the lens color is an excellent green, different from that of the Ray-Ban aviators. The style will be available in silver or gold and apparently will use titanium in the frames.
Porsche Design Sunglasses 8480
The P8480 are one the first folding sunglass styles that were available. They can fold all the way down to 6cm and still come with the leather case. Both styles should be available later this year and are being released in conjunction with Porsche’s Design Heritage Collection. The price is unknown.

Celebrity Sighting: Katie Price and Luis Vuitton Graffiti Sunglasses
Katie Price was seen wearing this style by Luis Vuitton sunglasses, known for a number of outlandish and popular styles.
The Eighties on your eyes
This style is called Luis Vuitton Grafitti and it certainly feels eighties with the squares shape and neon coloring. The lens is apparently all glass as well. The style is a tribute to the artist Stephen Sprouse, who has worked on Luis Vuitton graffiti collections before.

Dita 2009 Men's Optical Collection
Dita has released the rest of the men’s optical collection for 2009 and it very similar in style and shape to the women’s line. We are talking about classic shapes, small details and fine craftsmanship. The first model, the Statesman, was released a few months ago and the other three models that we see here are along the same lines.

The first thing that you notice with these pairs is the vintage quality to them. For me, they have a 50’s feel. The look very professional and would go well with a suit, tuxedo or anything slightly formal.
Added to the normal array of Dita colors this year (Black, tortoise, white) are the Clear Fade and Bone, both pictured above. I love the bone. Bvlgari 2009 Sunglasses 8031B 8032B Styles (Bvlgari Sunglasses)
Bvlgari has also been known not to shy away from the extremes of luxury and that’s the same for their 2009 sunglasses. Here we will look at two of the more outlandish styles for 2009, which summarize the Bulgari sunglasses styling.
Bulgari 8031B Black
The 8031B style is a typical over-sized frame that has very nice detailing on the side of them. The floral design is beautiful and will accent other jewelry you are wearing. With a retail price of about $360, I wouldn’t be wearing this to the beach. Also typical is the shape of the temples, which start off really thick near the lenses and get smaller near the loop on the end. It’s a really nice style that should be complimented with equally stunning clothing.

Bulgari 8032B Silver
The 8032B style has very similar detailing in the floral crystal pattern, but is a one-piece lens are has a different feel. The nose piece is very fine on it and this frame should fit on many different faces. All Bulgari sunglasses come with Swarovsky Crystal, so you are seeing the real thing here. Also retails for about $360.
Carrying on the luxurious traditions of Bulgari, the 2009 set is what I would expect from them: clean, stylish and gleaming. They didn’t go with anything incredibly risky which I might have liked, but it’s still a nice line.

Celebrity Sighting - Rihanna and Colab Eyewear Wiener Sunglasses
Enjoying success with the successful lately is Colab Eyewear, again seen on the face of one of the biggest names in celebrity fashion, Rihanna. She is wearing their model the Wiener, a pair which is quite unique. These photos are from the American Music Awards.
If you can see, there is a piece of something like a rubber band wrapped around the bridge, so the pair looks as though it has been repaired. There are many similarly cool designs on the Colab Eyewear website which you should check out.
With Rihanna, sunglasses are always an accessory to keep an eye on, because she takes care when she chooses. In fact, that’s just the beginning with her. Check the search function on the blog for more pictures of her.
