Victoria Beckham Gold Sunglasses with Cutler & Gross
The frame seems to be inspired by the latest group of gold-plated sunglasses. Their style is in no way subtle and neither is the price. At about $745, these will set you back a big. They are limited edition.
Are you decadent enough for these? Is this just too much? Is there a 'too much' with sunglasses?

Ralph Vaessen Sunglasses (Joost, Willemijn, Lotte, Katrina)
Recently I’ve come across one of the most beautiful sets of sunglasses I’ve seen in a long time, or perhaps ever. It’s a new brand and I’m happy too present them there. The brand is called Ralph Vaessen, as he is their head designer.

The Joost is an aviator shape and is by far my favourite. The separation of the buffalo horn at the bridge is excellent, as the metallic frame really brings out the colors.

Willemijn
The Willemijn is an excellent example of cat eye sunglasses. The angles on this pair are extreme. No weak can wear this frame. It’s not an all black frame either. Click on the picture to enlarge and see the subtleties in the color variation. This is all from the buffalo horn.
Ralph Vaessen has decided to go with some classic shapes for this line and I can’t wait for the next one. Ralph Vaessen sunglasses will not come cheap. This of course is based on the use of buffalo horn and the fact that every pair is hand-made. The prices range from €1100 - €1800.

New Oakley Sunglasses – Oakley Pit Boss (Oakley Elite Series)
Oakley has released a new model which they claim is the first release of an upcoming series of “elite” models of sunglasses. It is called Oakley Pit Boss and you can see it here below. Surprisingly, there hasn’t been a lot of talk about it online or advertising on the Oakley website. I only found out about it because there was a small write-up about it in an Oakley newsletter.

The shape is definitely Oakley. It is more a lifestyle model than a sports model, which really calls into questions the $595 dollar price tag I have seen on many websites. I do like the design; however, the price tag is not justified. The shape is beautiful, but not very different from past Oakley models. What are the special technological innovations that lead to this kind of price? All colors of the Pit Boss come with polarized lenses, Oakley optics, hydrophobic lens coatings and something called hexalobular bolts, but this technology is all standard on most Oakley models. Their latest sports model, the JawBone, came packed with new innovations and is half the price.

Louis Vuitton Sunglasses 2009 – Women’s Acetate
I am not particularly impressed with Louis Vuitton sunglasses in general, but from time to time they have a good pair. Today we will look at three pairs that stick out from the rest in the available set. What we are looking at are the women’s styles for 2009 that are made from acetate. We’ll look at the metal styles another day.

Louis Vuitton Sunglasses Obsession Carre
The obsession comes in many different shapes, and this is the Carre shape. It is the full-sized frame of the three styles and has an eye-catching tortoise shell print. The price is $480.00.

Louis Vuitton Sunglasses Gina

Louis Vuitton Sunglasses - Mahina Camel
The Mahina is a much softer design than the above two frames. It has a simple one-piece lens and the LV flower in the center of the bridge. The price is $480.00

Roberto Cavalli Sunglasses 2009 (504, 441, 448)

This is a standard aviator with minor detail on the temples. It is definitely more subtle for Roberto Cavalli sunglasses, but that’s not necessarily a good thing as they can be way over the top. This style will look good on many girls because of its simplicity, but would also go well with formal wear. The price is about €190.

Roberto Cavalli 441 Sunglasses
This pair is certainly worth note. The detail in it is over the top, but beautiful. The temples are exquisite. There are crystals running from the front to the back of them, and the circles are in fact in the shape of snakes. Within each snake is the Roberto Cavalli logo. These have got to be worn with something nice. Do not bring them to the beach. The price is about €275.

Bvlgari 2009 Sunglasses 8031B 8032B Styles (Bvlgari Sunglasses)
Bvlgari has also been known not to shy away from the extremes of luxury and that’s the same for their 2009 sunglasses. Here we will look at two of the more outlandish styles for 2009, which summarize the Bulgari sunglasses styling.

The 8031B style is a typical over-sized frame that has very nice detailing on the side of them. The floral design is beautiful and will accent other jewelry you are wearing. With a retail price of about $360, I wouldn’t be wearing this to the beach. Also typical is the shape of the temples, which start off really thick near the lenses and get smaller near the loop on the end. It’s a really nice style that should be complimented with equally stunning clothing.
The 8032B style has very similar detailing in the floral crystal pattern, but is a one-piece lens are has a different feel. The nose piece is very fine on it and this frame should fit on many different faces. All Bulgari sunglasses come with Swarovsky Crystal, so you are seeing the real thing here. Also retails for about $360.

Barton Perreira Men Sunglasses for 2009
We now look at the male styles for Barton Perreira eyewear in 2009. Again, I’ve only got a select few models for you to look at, but they are nicely put together. Getting it started…

Odyssey has a class aviator shape with Barton Perreira touches. I really like the detailing around the bridge and shape of the lenses. A mix of lenses cuts makes this standout from more common aviator shapes.

Mogul has a great masculine feel to it and will look good on most guys. The frame coloring is excellent and not too loud. Retails for $525.

Brodus is my favourite of the bunch. Also a classic aviator shape, the detailing on the bridge and temples makes it look very refined. Retails for $515

Barton Perreira Women’s Sunglasses for 2009

Barton Perreira Emmanuelle Sahara Snake Small

The first new pair is called Harlequin. It is quite different from any other models in the line. The design on the temples is very intricate and is hand-painted. It retails for about $515 U.S.

Genevieve is the simpler of these three models, but has nice detailing where the temples meet the frame in the shape of a metallic bow. The lens shape is also more laidback and subtle, and matches the lines of the frame very smoothly. Low key luxury.
I’ve been waiting to see new designs from Barton Perreira and I must say that I am quite impressed. All of the models this year were designed by Patty Perreira and she has again raised the bar. I was basically hoping for something along these lines, especially with the way they are colored, allowing light to change how the sunglasses look.
If you’ve got the bankroll and want to stand out, you simply can’t go wrong with Barton Perreira. They are available at only the classiest retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Barneys, Fred Segal and Bergdorf Goodman. There are many more styles for 2009, just check the website or updates here.

Barton Perreira Eyewear – Design and Luxury for you Eyes
The company was started by Patty Perreira and Bill Barton only in the last year, former employees of Oliver Peoples eyewear, also a very popular brand. Their craft must have been honed well at Oliver Peoples, because their sunglasses are absolutely stunning. A lot of the frames are made from titanium, while others are hand-made plastic. I love the mesh on many of the pairs, and the thin frames and well cut lines are very elegant looking. Take a look at what’s available for your eyes:
As popular as they are new, Barton Perreira sunglasses are a growing brand that I have a feeling is going to explode in popularity in the next year. Stars such as Angelina Jolie, Milla Jovovich and Laurence Fishburne (which one doesn’t belong?) have been known to wear their styles. I’ve even seen them in the new Kardinal video “Dangerous” with Akon.
I am dying to get a pair of them myself, but no one in this quadrant of the world stocks them. That being said, the average price might be a problem for me too. Check out their website.

The Worlds Most Expensive Sunglasses?

This exclusivity is reached in what I imagine is currently the most expensive pair of sunglasses, made by Luxuriator. The model is called Style 23, and is currently retailing for $65,000 US. It includes 18K yellow gold, ivory buffalo horn temples (are those legal?) and 132 hand cut diamonds with a total carat weight of 3.45. Wow. Don’t suppose they will send me a pair for research. What could you get for $65,000 these days? A few things come to mind: A house (in Thailand maybe), a really nice car, a cryogenic freezing package (short term), or about 540 pairs of Ray-Ban wayfarers.
