Dita Eyewear 2009 – Three Excellent New Releases – Selector, Spectator and Marquis

Dita Eyewear will be releasing 14 styles for the 2009 season and we would like to bring all of them to you here.  Earlier, we looked at the first release, called Dynasty, which got us really excited for the next set which we’ve got for you now:

Dita Selector D.Tortoise with a Coffee-Caramel Back

The Selector is a mix of an aviator and an oversized frame, with classic touches here and there.  The sizing and the color of the frame are outstanding, especially the white.  The frame is made of Zyl-acetate and has a glossy finish.  I love the double rivets seen on the temples and end-pieces.  They give them a classy look.  This unisex frame will look good on everyone.  It also comes in Black with a Black Swirl Back and Honey Tortoise.

Dita Spectator Smoke with a Black Back

Dita Spectator has a Wayfarer style shape with subtle Dita styling.  The smoky colors that follow the insides of the frame near the lenses are outstanding.  I want to put these on with a three piece suit.  Also comes in Black with a Smoke Back and Tortoise with a Burnt Brown Back colors.

Dita Marquis Shiny Silver and Antique Silver Plated Titanium with D.Grey Gradient
Lenses

Dita Marquis rounds up these new releases with a metallic style.  The frame is made of two-tone titanium so is very lightweight.  Similar is style to their Midnight Special, the piece of the frame that extends from the temples onto and over the lenses is something I’m seeing for the first time.  Marquis also comes in Shiny 12K Gold, Matte Black Carbon and Antique D.Blue colors

All three pairs have polarized lenses, which is a change from Dita’s usual CR-39 lenses.  It adds another layer of quality and function.  If these three pairs are any indication of what the next 10 are going to be like, then it will be a good year for Dita Eyewear and all of us who follow them.  These three models alone cover a great range of shapes, styles and attitude.  All Dita sunglasses are made by the finest craftsmen in Japan.  Look for them to be available sometime in the near future.

Dita Womens Optical Styles Debut 2009

Having finished taking over the sunglasses world, Dita has now moved into the optical world.  For 2009, they have released six optical frames for women in a variety of colors and shapes.  These highly anticipated frames have been in the works for sometime now, and I expect them to do really well.  Here they are:

Courante Black Swirl with Black

Svelte Dark Tortoise with Coffee Caramel

Confidante Red Crystalline with Smoke Swirls

Joya Lavender Crystalline with Smoke Swirls

Elan Black Swirl with Black

Lavish Dark Tortoise with Coffee Caramel

Your potential with these on

The frames have a few characteristics that separate them from other optical brands including custom 10K gold plated laser etched decorative wirecores in the temples, Custom designed 10K gold plated ball hinges and 10K gold plated rivets.   All of the frames are very classy, elegant and sophisticated.

There are elements of vintage shapes in a few of the styles and the colors are quite remarkable.  Made from only the finest material in Japan, the women’s Dita optical frames are definitely going to be huge.

Celebrity Sighting - Kylie Minogue and Carrera Champion Sunglasses

The never-disappearing act know as Kylie Minogue is known for wearing a variety of sunglasses, in all colors, and usually very big.  This recent photo of her is no exception.

A decent match for her

Kylie is wearing Carrera Chamption Dark Havana (YR) sunglasses in this picture and I’m a huge fan of this pair.  Normally, I think they look better on guys and I think that holds here.  They have a very masculine teardrop shape, but could work on girls as well.

Carrera sunglasses are available at Frames Direct.

The Italian street brand Vanguard can be found all around the world and is really a good match for Super.  Just like all Super sunglasses, they have Carl Zeiss lenses.

They are only making 50 pairs of these for the whole world, so you had better get to their website if you want a pair.  The retail price is €130.

Sunglasses in the Movie Bride Wars

Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway star in this week’s box-office hit the Bride Wars, a comedy about two friends who begin to compete over their plans for the perfect wedding.  There are some great outfits, dresses and jackets in the film, not to mention sunglasses.

This shot is hilarious

In Bride Wars, sunglasses appear when Kate’s character is hiding from her friend and they cover her up really well.  The sunglasses are from Kaenon Polarized and are called Ivory Leila.  The frame and lens colors match very well, and the gold accenting on the side is a nice touch.  This over-sized frame is big and beautiful enough to fit a fashion itch, but not to over the top.  A safe bet.

Ivory Leila retails for $239.

Celebrity Sighting - Anne Hathaway and Colab Eyewear Holey Sunglasses on The Bride Wars Set

The Bride Wars has opened to great success over the weekend one of the stars of the show is Anne Hathaway.  Sunglasses certainly are not a big part of the characters in the film, but Anne herself wears tons of different brands and was spotted on the set with this oversized pair.

A sunglasses aficionado

They are from one of my favourite brands focussed heavily on design, the Australian brand Colab Eyewear.  This model is called Holey and will look big on most.  Holey's frame is made from jet black acetate and the lenses are CR39.  This model, like all of their styles for 2009, is limited edition, as only 1000 pairs have been made.

Colab has many different styles now and all have something particular about them that you won’t see anywhere else.  Colab eyewear is in many shops all over the U.S. and is getting popular with the stars.  Look for them to keep growing.

Martin Margiela Spring Summer Sunglasses 2009

Continuing to push with conventional standards and laughing in the face of plain, Martin Margiela has released a pair of sunglasses for Spring/Summer 2009 that is like nothing you’ve ever seen.

Almost like goggles

Similar to last years’ model, it is a one-piece lens that not everyone will have the guts to wear.  Like the Dior Homme 2009 sunglasses, they are only for the bold and should be worn with the appropriate attire, most likely Margiela clothes.  I tried on the 2008 sunglasses and they were very cool, so I’m hoping to get a look at these soon.  Available in Martin Margiela boutiques soon.

Celebrity Sighting – Lilly Allen and Chanel 5124 Sunglasses

Lily Allen is running around the world getting ready to release her new album entitled “It’s Not Me, It’s You” and I’ve caught her covering up with a nice pair of shades.

Love the quilting

Lily is wearing Chanel 5124 sunglasses in this photo.  It’s been a very popular model and can be found on many different stars.  Part of Chanel’s “Essential” series,  the frame shape is fairly traditional, but I really like the quilted temples on the side.  Chanel does this with a few of these frames and it is very classy.

This pair retails for about $280 U.S.

Dior Homme Spring Summer 2009 Sunglasses

Fashion trend leading label has recently released their Spring/Summer sunglasses for 2009.  They are similar to their last line of sunglasses in shape and style.

The clothes have got to be right

I'll take the white ones

Very boxy and non-traditional, Dior has again chosen to release something never before seen.  These sunglasses were created by designer Kris Van Asshe and reflect his original style, on his mission to separate himself from Hedi Slimane.  Items like these will do that.  I think they actually look good if you’ve got longer hair (see the model on the left) and it covers up the temples.  You definitely don’t want to be wearing boring clothes with these.  Everything will have to be over the top.

Colors available are white, black, red and blue and you can buy them at Dior Homme boutiques everywhere.  Retail price is unknown.

Alberto Contador Giro Havik Limited Edition Sunglasses

Giro has released a limited edition Alberto Contador Havik and we’ve got one of the pictures here.

Gold is one of my favorite colors

Only 500 of these are being produced and for someone as big as Giro, that’s very limited.  The model is to commemorate the achievements of Alberto in the last 14 months, which are astonishing.  He has won the Tour De France, Giro D’Italia and La Vuelta España, basically taking the bike world by storm and is the greatest rider in the world now.

The limited edition Havik style will be released in three colors (Yellow for Tour de France, Pink for Giro D’Italia and gold for La Vuelta España) and was reviewed here on Everything Sunglasses here.

Ray-Ban Colorize – Paint Your Own Wayfarers

In an attempt to keep the popularity of the Wayfarer in the last few years going, Ray-Ban is releasing a version called “Colorize” which is a kit that includes white frame and a variety of markers.  Now you can use you art skills to color Ray-Ban sunglasses and make a pair that no one else will have.

I going to need to get someone to color mine for me

With brands like Super releasing the Wayfarer in a multitude of different colors, Ray-Ban is a little late, but this is still an interesting idea.  No word yet on the price.

Celebrity Sighting - Kristin Cavallari and Ray-Ban 3025 Sunglasses

Yet another celebrity was spotted in classic Ray-Ban 3025 sunglasses when Kristin Cavallari smiled for the camera recently on the beach.

Half smiles are tough to read

Another victim of the famous-for-being-famous generation, reality tv has become a home for Kristin Cavallari.  Sunglasses like these often look better on guys, but she has pulled them off quite well.

Barton Perreira Men Sunglasses for 2009

We now look at the male styles for Barton Perreira eyewear in 2009.  Again, I’ve only got a select few models for you to look at, but they are nicely put together.  Getting it started…

Odyssey

Odyssey has a class aviator shape with Barton Perreira touches.  I really like the detailing around the bridge and shape of the lenses.  A mix of lenses cuts makes this standout from more common aviator shapes.

Mogul

Mogul has a great masculine feel to it and will look good on most guys.  The frame coloring is excellent and not too loud.  Retails for $525.

Brodus

Brodus is my favourite of the bunch.  Also a classic aviator shape, the detailing on the bridge and temples makes it look very refined.  Retails for $515

These are just a few of the styles available for 2009.  For more, check out the website.
