Renting Sunglasses

Believe it or not, there are several places where you can rent sunglasses online. I’ve never seen any actual stores that rent out shades, but there are a few popular online sites for renting designer goods which have now made eyewear available, the most popular being Borrow Bag or Steal. They have many different bags, earrings and belts available, but now even sunglasses!

I really have a hard time seeing how this would be popular, even in the most extreme cases. The rental fees are anywhere from $65 to over $166 if you are not a member, and that is just for one month. Of course the rental fee depends on which pair you want, but at $170 to rent a pair of sunglasses that retail for $250 (one example), it’s hard to justify spending that much.

Paying for insurance is up to you, but that might be a good idea (you scratch it, you bought it), as they could call you on any small imperfection as being your fault and charge you the full price, plus what you’ve already paid for rental.

I don't think I would do this. What do think of the idea?
