Sunglasses in the Movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

In perhaps the film I’m most excited about for the holiday season, Brad Pitt plays lead in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, about a baby born as an old man who ages backwards.  At birth doctors claim his real age is about 80, and will soon die.  However, as he “ages”, he keeps getting younger and stronger, as his family and friends around him age.

This film matches him up once again with director David Fincher, which is great considering their history together (Seven, Fight Club).  The plot is based on an F. Scott Fitzgerald short story and is apparently not a happy one, but you wouldn't expect that from Fincher anyways.  I’m really excited to see the historical sets, make-up and most importantly, the ending.  What happens to him at the end of his life?

Very cool look

An excellent scene on the motorcycle.  Love this jacket.

There are tons of great vintage items in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.  Sunglasses are of course no exception, and you won't be surprised to hear that Ray-Ban sunglasses pop-up several times.  I asked The Way We Wore, a vintage shop in LA responsible for clothing Brad Pitt in the film, what sunglasses he wears and they are very confident it is all Ray-Ban.  Considering the time the movie is set in, the first pair is most likely the classic RB2140 Wayfarer and the second pair the classic RB3025 Aviators.  Given that it is set a long time ago, the frames could be something not carried anymore but those two models have been around for a long time and if they aren't the actual ones from the film, then they are the closest thing you will find.

I’ll watch this as soon as I can but if you’ve seen it, let me know what you think.

The ones on the boat are like some James Dean wore..Kinda ivory in color but the scene is brief. The Ray Bay Avitors are the WWII type, I have a pair. The classic Ray Ban Wayfarer is obvious on the bike. The boat ones are still a mystery.

I'd like to find a suit he wore in Paris.. The pants were baggy.. In the dance studio he wore a grey shawl collar carigan, hard to find.. Chino's or tan jeans..I think it's a barracuda jacket on the boat..Let me know..
